Joseph
“Joe” Travaglini, 2012 Board Chair
Mr.
Travaglini has over 34 years of management consulting
and professional service firm administration expertise.
A graduate of The American University’s Washington
College of Law, where he obtained a Juris Doctor degree,
Mr. Travaglini was admitted to the District of Columbia
Bar. He began his professional career as a management
consultant for Arthur Young and Company (now part
of Ernst & Young) and then with Coopers &
Lybrand (now a part of PriceWaterhouseCoopers) performing
studies for a number of federal agencies. He then
changed careers, moving into managing professional
service firms in the Washington, DC area. Among the
firms were two Washington offices of major national
law firms as well as local firms ranging in size from
12 to 85 attorneys.
In
2001, he and Linda, his wife of 30 years, moved to
Asheville, North Carolina to assume the duties of
Chief Operating Officer for Western North Carolina’s
largest law firm. Here he handled a number of key
projects which greatly improved the firm’s technology
infrastructure and upgraded its marketing functions.
They moved to the Charlotte area in May 2008 and now
live in Indian Land, SC.

Bill Romeo, 2011 Board Chair
Bill
Romeo graduated from Rutgers University with a BS
in 1991 and continued his education by earning his
MS in 1994. Starting his Retirement and Estate
Planning business in Matthews, NC in 2006, he and
his wife are very widely sought and admired throughout
the community to assist with people’s retirement
planning needs.
Together,
they participate heavily with local non-profit organizations
such as the Shepherd’s Center of Charlotte, Christ
Our Shepherd Ministries (since 2009), and St. John
Neumann Church where they worship with their two
children: Billy (12) and Brandon (11). Bill and
Maria are heavily involved with the Matthews Chamber
of Commerce and various elder care organizations
throughout Mecklenburg and surrounding counties.
Bill is an advocate for financial education and
actively volunteers his financial knowledge to SOFA
(Society of Financial Awareness) whose main mission
is to eliminate financial illiteracy.

Jarina - Vice Chair
Community
Volunteer: Coordinator of Peace and Justice
Ministry and member of Seams of Faith Ministry at
St. Matthew Catholic Church. Member of Executive
Committee of Supportive Housing Innovative Partnership
– a collaborative effort to provide transitional housing
and support services to women and their children moving
from homelessness to self-sufficiency. Instructor
for first aid and CPR classes for American Red Cross.

Amanda Webb – Secretary
Amanda
Webb graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio
in 2004 with degrees in Speech Communications and
English. She worked as a Communication Coordinator
and then Marketing Associate at KPMG for three years
before starting her own business as an Accredited
Staging Professional. Amanda and her husband recently
welcomed their first child Elijah James to the family.
Amanda plans to spend her time now as a mother and
board member at COS.

Estelle Brendle, Treasurer
Estelle
Brendle has been very active in the Matthews Community
for over 15 years. She is the Administrative Assistant
at Grace and Hope since 1997 and acts as Aanalisa
Whatley’s right hand girl at McDowell Street Center
for Family Law. Estelle is involved with the Matthews
Women’s Club Service League. Estelle is a widow with
three grown children and 4 grandchildren. She has
been a Matthews Member since 1997 and was on the original
Family Home Selection Committee for Matthews Habitat
for Humanity. Estelle is a member of Matthews United
Methodist Church and has helped established a satellite
church called Light of Christ United Methodist Church
in Pineville. Estelle has been on the Board of Christ
Our Shepherd since 1997.

Aana-Lisa Whatley – Member
Born
in Butte Montana. Moved to North Carolina from Connecticut
in 1965. Moved to Matthews, North Carolina in 1969.
Four Children, ten grandchildren (ages 4-25). Accountant
by profession. Started Stronghaven, Inc. (corrugated
box plant in Matthews with former husband in 1972.
Built company to four plants in three states. Sold,1996).
Active
in community affairs in Matthews North Carolina. Served
on board of Matthews Chamber of Commerce, Matthews
Sisky YMCA, original founder and past president of
Matthews Women’s Service League, Board member of Matthews
Historical Foundation. Served on Matthews Planning
and Zoning Board for six years. Founder and board
member of Christ Our Shepherd Ministries, (Single
Parent Childcare Facility and Christian Library).
Founder and Board member of McDowell Street Center
for Family Law (non-profit center for low income persons).
Founder and Chairman of Board of The Grace and Hope
Foundation.

Amy Fincher Hankins
- Member
Amy Fincher Hankins is a native of Matthews, NC.
She attended East Mecklenburg High School and graduated
from Wake Forest University with a BA degree.
She is a single mother with 3 daughters (18, 18 and
13 years of age). Amy volunteers at Jay M Robinson
Middle School and Providence High School, is a member
of the Matthews Rotary Club and is active at Matthews
United Methodist Church. She owns a consulting
business, Expense Reduction Analysts, where she helps
businesses in NC and SC save money on overhead costs.
Amy joined the Christ Our Shepherd Board in March
2011.

Randy Mitchell – Member
Randy
Mitchell owns a consulting business that advises individuals
on business ownership options. Randy is a past-President
of the Matthews Chamber of Commerce and is active
in the local community. He and his wife Gwen,
a pharmacist at Presbyterian Hospital-Matthews, have
lived in Matthews since 1998. They have two
children, Jordan is at NC State, and Bethany is at
UNC-Wilmington.

Belinda Kirby, Ex-Officio
Belinda
grew up in the Charlotte area and graduated from West
Charlotte High School. She has a BS degree in Special
Education from Appalachian State University.
She
has been a teacher and director in the education field
for over 35 years. She joined Christ Our Shepherd
staff in 1998 as the Director of Children's Programs
and became the Executive Director in 2004. Belinda
is active in the Matthews Chamber where she has been
a board member and presently chairs a sub-committee.
She is a member of the Matthews Rotary Club and serves
at Carmel Baptist Church. She is married to Robert
Kirby and has 3 children and 2 grandchildren.
